Walter H. “Wally” Wilk, 80, of Amarillo died Tuesday, February 14, 2012. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, February 17, 2012 in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 South Georgia with Rev. Jeff Zirkle officiating.
Wally was born March 10, 1931 in Chicago, IL to Walter and Irene Wilk. He married Betty Ehlers January 9, 1960. Mr. Wilk served in the US Army from 1956 to 1961. He worked at Santa Fe Railroad from 1953 to 1988. Wally was active in Gideon’s International and served as a board member for Life Challenge, Amarillo Agency for Women, and Faith City Inc. Wally attended Kingswood United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Adele Miner and Delores Chott.
Wally is survived by his wife Betty, his son, David Wilk and wife Jonah of Olney, TX, his daughter, Ladonna Martin and husband Steven of Amarillo, a brother Ray Wilk and wife Vickey of Oaklawn, IL. Eight Grandchildren, Josh, Dannikah, Kiela, Adam, Hogan, Wyatt, Morgen, and Keirah, and Two Great Grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Gideon’s International, 2200 West 7th Avenue, Amarillo, TX 79106.
The family will receive friends Thursday, February 16, 2012 from 6:00 – 8:00PM at the funeral home.
