A graveside service will be on Monday, October 14, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Llano Cemetery. Mr. Curtis Cadenhead will officiate.
Wanda was born in Abilene, Texas on December 22, 1928 to her parents, Charles Otis and Willie Juanita Simmons Higdon. She married Wayne Higgins on August 15, 1948 in Clovis, New Mexico. They started an adventure that would last the next forty-five years until his death in 1993.
Wanda was the backbone of her family. She was fiercely devoted to her husband and children. She offered steadfast love and support; although Wanda was a bit stubborn, highly independent and could handle anything that life threw at her or her children.
Throughout her life Wanda was a talented seamstress, a masterful quilter and an all-around talented crafter. After raising her children she spent over ten years working at Cloth World, now Joanne's. Wanda was also proud of her life long commitment and membership of "Women of the Moose."
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, LaNelle Gilbert, two sons, James and Terry Higgins, and her husband Wayne.
Wanda is survived by her daughter, Penni Gamblin and husband Bill; a son, Donald Higgins all of Amarillo; a brother, Chuck Higdon and wife Diane of Yukon, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Khrissen Barbee of Tulia, Keegan Higgins and wife Sara of Cornelius, North Carolina, Jennifer Bell and husband Josh of Amarillo, and Jessie Higgins of Burlington, Kansas; and eight Great grandchildren.
