Wanda LaNelle Hodges Flippin Shanks died May 26, 2013 in her home.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel with Chad Mantooth, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S Georgia.
Wanda was born Oct. 25, 1922, in Cottle County to Gaines Clifford Hodges and Lilly Mae Barkly. She was a resident of Amarillo since 1949. She married Robert C. Flippin on July 1 1946 in Chillicothe, Texas. Robert preceded her in death in 1991. She married Roy Shanks of Fort Smith, Arkansas in October 1992 in Amarillo, Texas. He preceded her in death in 2010.
Wanda was a follower of Jesus Christ since age 12 and worshiped and served her Lord at Temple Baptist Church, Trinity Baptist Church, Bell Avenue Baptist Church and First Baptist Church across the years. She loved being a mother and caring for her family.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son Baby Boy Flippin and two brothers.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Flippin Jeane and husband Reuben, a son, Rob Flippin and wife Edy, and two step sons Greg Shanks and wife Terri, and Jack Shanks and wife Mary Ruth. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jeremiah, Amanda, Bethany, Matthew, Brad, Heather and Sam.
The family suggests memorials be to Gideon’s International, 2200 SW 7th, Amarillo, Tx 79106.
The family will receive guests at their homes.
