Memorial Service will be held Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Church of Christ at the Colonies with Mr. Dick Marcear officiating. Private family burial will be in Llano Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight in the funeral home from 4-6 PM. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S Georgia St.Mr. High was born in Abilene, Texas to Griffin and Ona Lovelady High in 1923. Mr. High served three years in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. After the service, he attended Abilene Christian College where he met his wife Jo. They were married September 2, 1947, in Dallas.After graduating, they opened and operated High’s Flowers in Abilene, starting in 1950 and retiring in 1995. High’s Flowers is still in operation.Mr. High was the past President of Abilene Downtowns Lions Club. He served on the City of Abilene Parks and Recreations Board for the establishment of the Abilene Zoo. He was Organizational President and first elected President of West Texas, New Mexico Florists Association. He was an avid North America game hunter, fisherman, and outdoors man.In 1973 he built a log cabin in Westcliff, Colorado, which he and his family love and enjoy.He is preceded in death by his two brothers, James and Joseph High.He is survived by, his wife Jo High of the home, one daughter Jill Falkenberry andhusband, Allen of Tulsa; two sons, Timothy High and wife, Cindi of Austin; and Dr. Richard High and wife, Becky of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Amy Jo and husband, Tony; Luke and wife, Jacqueline; Adam, Grant, Zach, Anneka and four great grandchildren, Tanner, Elle, Paris, Roman.Memorials may be made to Caring Bridge Donation Processing Center PO.
