Wendell Lee Smart

September 25, 1927 — February 8, 2013

Wendell “Windy” Smart, 85, of Amarillo went to be with his Lord, Friday, February 8, 2013.

Memorial Service will be at 4:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 13, 2013 in Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel with Rev. Jim Shelburne of Washington Avenue Christian Church and Mr. Loran Harper of Comanche Trail Church of Christ officiating.  Private family interment will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.

Wendell was born on September 25, 1927 in Walters, Oklahoma to George and Eula Smart.  He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  Wendell worked at Plains Chevrolet for 21 years and then worked for Ray Jones Chevrolet for 21 years until his retirement.  He enjoyed taking trips and fishing.  He was a member of Comanche Trail Church of Christ.

Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Bob Smart and five sisters-in-law.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Billie Smart; a daughter, Andi Dragosavac and husband, Steve; a son, Richard Smart; a daughter-in-law, Luz Smart; two granddaughters, Melissa Fierro and Aimee Dragosavac; two great grandchildren, Malia and Mikeal Fierro – all of Amarillo; two brothers, George Smart and Kenneth Smart of Duncan, OK; brother-in-law and best friend, Johnny Brady of Amarillo; two nieces that were close to him, Carolyn Hefner and Marilyn Meriwether of Amarillo and as well as other nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.
