Wilford Eugene "Sonny" Pratt
December 13, 1929 — April 3, 2017
Wilford E. ‘Sonny” Pratt, age 87 of Wildorado, died April 3, 2017 in Amarillo.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 7th at 2:00 PM at the Palo Duro Baptist Church in Wildorado. Dr. Ron Muller will be officiating. Interment will be in Palo Duro Cemetery in Wildorado. Military Honors will be provided by Volleys for Veterans. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Sonny was born in Choctaw County, Oklahoma December 13, 1929 to Alva Abner and Iva Alice Ladyman Pratt. He served in the Unites States Army from 1951 until 1953. On October 8, 1953 Sonny married Lovie Scott. The couple had three children together. Lovie preceded him in death in 1975.
Together since 1988, Sonny and Jacque Valentine Broaddus married on November 17, 1995. They would have celebrated their twenty-second anniversary this November.
Sonny retired from Pantex in 1993 after thirty years of service at the plant. He enjoyed being outdoors and camping with friends and family. Sonny truly enjoyed life and made everyone around him feel loved and welcome. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather; delighting in his family and loving them immensely.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the Amarillo VA for the care and compassion provided to both themselves and Sonny.
A family visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6 PM until 7 PM at Schooler Funeral Home.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Lovie; a sister, Helen; a brother, C.D.; and a stepson, Weldon Broaddus.
He is survived by his wife Jacque of Wildorado; two daughters, Cheryl James of Abilene and Wendy Hefley and her husband Ron of Wildorado; a son Monty Pratt and his wife Grace of Vega; his two bonus daughters, Judy Stark of Richardson and her friend Gary Cannon and Nancy Broaddus and her friend Russell Wellington of Waimea, Kauai Hawaii; eighteen grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Oleta Austin of Amarillo.
The family suggest memorials be made to the Palo Duro Baptist Church, 5704 FM 809 Wildorado, Texas 79098 or the Palo Duro Cemetery, PO Box 86 WIldorado, Texas 79098 in memory of Sonny.
