Willard “Bud” Alward, 91 passed away March 19, 2021.
Services for Bud Alward of Amarillo will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.
Bud was born June 14, 1929 in Alamo, Indiana to Clarence and Ethel Alward. Bud married Melba “Jean” Lane, May 8th, 1954. They were married 50 years until Jean’s passing in 2004. Bud worked as a barber in the early 1950’s and in 1954 was hired as an engineer for BN Santa Fe for 38 years.
Bud became active in the Seniors Art classes of Amarillo College. Bud painted over 500 pictures and art became his passion. He loved to show people his art work and discuss his paintings. He also loved bass fishing and traveling in his 5th wheel. He was a charter member Aldergate Sunday School class of Kingswood United Methodist Church. He served in the Army from 1950 to 1952.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Ernie; brother, Al and wife Jean; nephew, Jerry; and grandson, Blair.
He is survived by daughter, Gloria (Harvey) Hudspeth of Liberty Hill, TX; son Mike (Cindy) Alward of Dalhart, TX; granddaughter, Kristain (Chad) Brinkley of Leander, TX; granddaughter, Jennifer (Justin) Oliver of Amarillo, TX; grandson, Jason (fiancé Sami Peeler) of Spicewood, TX; great-granddaughter, Addison Brinkley; special friend, Paula Brewer of Amarillo, TX; step-granddaughter, Renee (Shane) Ferrell of Amarillo, TX; step-granddaughter, Allison (Zane) Ricketts of Canyon, TX; step great-grandson, James Ferrell; and step great-granddaughter, Kathryn Ferrell.
