William Boyd Fomby

March 11, 1929 — July 18, 2010

Visitation is today at Schooler Funeral Home from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 21, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church.  Dr. Winfred Moore and Dr. Howard Batson will officiate. Private family graveside will follow at Llano Cemetery, Amarillo, TX. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.Bill Fomby, 81, went home to be with his Lord on July 18, 2010. He was a Godly man who followed the Lord in every aspect of his life. He was a native of Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1947. He graduated from Baylor University in 1951 and retired from the Navy Reserve. Bill worked as the Business Administrator for First Baptist Church for years before retiring in 2000. Bill also served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and on various other committees. He was a mentor for Caprock High School and Palo Duro High School for years. No one had more hope for the Lord’s work. He has served as model of integrity in every possible way. Bill Fomby was a devoted father, husband, and friend and will be missed by many.He is preceded in death by daughter Kimberly Watkins in 1992.He is survived by wife Ann and son Boyd Fomby. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made First Baptist Church, & The Bill and Ann Fomby Scholarship Fund 1208 Tyler Street, Amarillo, Texas 79101 or the mission/building fund for First Baptist Church.
