Funeral Services will be on Monday, August 13th at 10:00 AM at Bell Avenue Baptist Church. Mr. Craig Holcolmb will officiate. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Fred was born in Tahoka, Texas to William Ernest and Martha Cordelia Kinslow on June 15, 1940.
Fred proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. While stationed in Sacramento, he met and soon married the love of his life, Pat Ott on July 18, 1964. After an honorable discharge, Fred pursued his education. He graduated from West Texas State University with a bachelor's degree in Animal Science and Biology. He then transferred to Texas A & M University, where he received his Master’s Degree in Animal Nutrition.
Fred spent many years in the ranching and livestock industry. While ranching, he and Pat were houseparents at Boys Country in Hockley, Texas and Still Creek Ranch in Kurten, Texas; both Christian homes for troubled youth. Fred and Pat were able to mentor and guide over 50 young boys, instilling character and ethics in their lives. He never gave up on anyone in need.
When Fred retired from ranching, he and Pat relocated to the Texas Panhandle. Fred most recently served as the Project Rio Specialist for the Clements Unit. He retired in 2011 after 20 years.
Fred was a simple, quiet man. He devoted his life to giving and helping others, expecting nothing in return. Fred cherished his precious family, especially his granddaughters. He spent his spare time devoted to their extracurricular activities, traveling to many rodeos, stock shows and ball games. He loved the mountains, spending many family vacations in Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Fred is survived by his wife of 47 years; a daughter Bekah Schooler and her husband Tom of Amarillo; a son Josh Kinslow of Bryan, TX; two granddaughters Ashley and Emily Schooler; a sister, Joy Harris and husband Stephen of Australia; a brother Don Kinslow and Sandra of Australia; and many friends.
