William F McWhirter

FUNERAL SERVICES will be on Wednesday, 2/23/2011 at 11:00 AM at Polk Street United Methodist Church Chapel.  The Rev. Kevin Deckard will officiate.  Burial will be at Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.Bill was born on January 19, 1922 to John and Mary Frances McWhirter in Claude, Texas.He attended West Texas State College graduating in 1950 with a B.B.A. and in 1958 with his M.B.A.  He worked at Pantex from 1941 until 1945, as controller for Russell Stationary Company from 1945 until 1953 and as a private CPA from 1960 until his retirement.He was an investor; trading stocks, bonds, real estate and oil and gas futures. Bill was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church and the 50-50 Sunday School Class.He is survived by his son, William E. McWhirter of Los Lunas, NM; son-in-law Donald Burgin and wife Nila of Amarillo; grandchildren, William L. McWhirter, Forrest Barker, Bo, Toby and Brin Burgin, and Jessica McWhirter; great grandchildren, Rachel McWhirter, William M. McWhirter, Benjamin McWhirter,  Silas McWhirter, Kayla Barker and Kayla BurginThe family suggest that memorials be made to Polk Street United Methodist Church, West Texas State A&M Scholarship Fund, or a favorite charity
