William Haskell Shelton

A Funeral Service will be Tuesday September 21, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Jones and Brother Wayne Griffith officiating. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. Fairview Cemetery in Wellington Texas. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 Georgia Amarillo, Texas. William Haskell Shelton born August 8, 1929 at Quitaque, Texas to Geron and Eula Shelton. He passed away September 16, 2010. Haskell married Nelda Nipper September 28, 1956 in Tulia, Texas. He has resided in Amarillo since 1968. Haskell was the oldest of nine children. Haskell worked for Cummins Sales and Service, from 1968 till 1977 when he left to teach diesel mechanics at TSTI of Amarillo Campus, from 1977 until 1989. Semi retired to move to Boys and Girls Country of Houston where he and his wife were house parents to the oldest boys for one year and youngest girls for one year. He retired to Amarillo, Texas in 1992 where they owned and operated “Delightful Treasures” Doll, Toy, Antique Shoppe for seven years. William was a member and Deacon of Second Baptist Church for 35 years. His greatest joy was to attend and usher in his church. William loved his family and grandkids and will be missed dearly by all. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Edd Shelton and Paul Shelton. He is survived by wife Nelda; children Kent and Susan Shelton of Albuquerque, NM, Keith and Vickie Shelton of Amarillo, Tx, Kevin and Sharon Shelton of Belton, Texas, Kim and Tom Thompson of Amarillo, Texas, Starla Baird of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren, Brenda Shelton, Nicole Meza, Shannon Shelton, Jaclyn Shelton, Stephanie Shelton, Katie Shelton, Amanda Shelton, Nathan Shelton, Reyanne Thompson, Shalya Thompson, Shawn Stewart, Stephanie Stewart, Eric Bauer, Alexandria Thompson; great grandchildren, Joey Meza, Gabby Meza, Christina Meza, Amelia Stewart and Hunter. In lieu of flowers the family recommends memorial donations be made to Second Baptist Church at       or Boys-Girls Country of Houston at             .
