William "Bill" Lee Ault

William Lee “Bill” Ault, 90, of Amarillo passed away Monday, November 16, 2020.

The family will be at their Pecan Orchard home, 16345 County Road B, Briscoe, Texas, for visitation and sandwiches from 1:00 to 1:45, Tuesday, November 24, 2020. Graveside service will be at Zybach Cemetery in Briscoe, Texas at 2:00 p.m.

Bill was born in Roy, New Mexico on July 17, 1930.  He moved to Bosque Farms, New Mexico with his family at the age of five. He and his family moved to Wheeler County, Texas at the age of 12. Bill graduated from Shamrock High School in 1947 and married Neta Joyce Gipson September 1, 1947. They moved to Amarillo in 1956.

Later Bill got a business degree from Amarillo College. He was an ace auto mechanic and real estate broker. He was an avid historian, taught Sunday school at a small Baptist Church in Shamrock, raced speed boats, raced dirt bikes with his son Danny, loved camping and world traveling. He ran Ault Insurance Agency from 1963 to 1994. In 1981 Bill and Neta planted 3000 pecan trees on his family farm in Wheeler County and established Ault Pecan Orchard.  He loved his work because he loved people.  Everyone was his friend as he never met a stranger.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Neta Ault, his parents, William Lee Ault and Mable Parker, three sisters, Dorothy Ogle, Margret Gilmer and Mary George.

July 27, 2013 Bill married Eura Lee “Dink” Terry. They attended the First Baptist Church of Amarillo. Together they have traveled to England, Scotland, France, Germany, Old Mexico, Alaska and many road trips in the U.S.

Bill is survived by his wife Dink Ault, son, Danny Ault and wife Vicki of Amarillo, four more children: Mike Terry, John Terry, Tomi Kerns and husband Ross, all of Amarillo, Cristi VanLandingham and husband Jeff, of Port St Joe, Florida, two brothers: Ray Ault and wife Janice of Amarillo, Jimmy Joe Ault and wife Sandy of Briscoe, Texas, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews that he absolutely adored.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Shriners Hospital in Bills name.
