Willie Mae Barnett

Willie Mae Barnett, 88, of Groom went to be with the Angels on October 2, 2018.

A rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Groom. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 5, 2018 at the church. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St., Amarillo.

Willie Mae was born on September 2, 1930 in Groom, Texas to Aloysius and Nell Britten. She graduated from Groom High School in 1949. Willie Mae married the love of her life, Jack H. Barnett in 1952. They were married 57 years. To their union, 5 children, 12 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren were born.

Willie Mae was an amazing lady that always showed kindness and was loved by many. She was known for her selflessness, integrity, and big heart. Her life revolved around her family of whom she loved unconditionally. She had a passion for gardening, crocheting and sewing. She was a lifetime member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Willie Mae was also a Golden Member of the Christian Mothers Altar Society.

She will always be looking over us and will live on in our hearts forever. Willie Mae loved life and put the Lord first as she is with him now in Heaven.

Heaven is a much brighter place with the warmth of her smile.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack H. Barnett; parents, Aloysius and Nell Britten; sister, Carol Fay Stroope; and great-grandson, John Paul Britten.

Left to cherish her memories are children, Sharon and Gary, Shelley and David, all of Groom; Schellon and Del of Willis, Jackie and Randi of Canyon, and Suni and James of Eastland; sister, Betty Ray Kotara of White Deer; and brother, Maynard Britten of Edmond.

The family suggest memorials be made in Willie Mae’s name to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Building Fund, PO Box 130, Groom Texas 79039.
