Winfred Ray Weatherly, 94, of Amarillo died November 2, 2018.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.
Winfred Ray Weatherly was born in Weatherly, TX to George Washington Weatherly and Ella May Weatherly on May 22, 1924. Winfred (Ray) as many called him was raised in Parnell where he attended school and met the love of his life Oneta Marcum. They were married on August 1, 1942. They resided in Parnell where they farmed together and raised their beautiful daughter. They moved to Amarillo in 1958 where he went to work at Pantex.
Ray was a World War II Veteran. He served in the 82nd Airborne Division with the Antitank Company 325th Glider Infantry in Rhineland; Central Europe. He was award many medals and badges. Ray had the privilege to walk in the New York City Victory Parade of 1946. Ray was a very religious man that loved to worship the Lord while listening to religious music. His world revolved around God, Country and Family. He was very proud of his family.
He was preceded in death by parents George and May Weatherly; his beautiful wife Oneta of 73 years in November 2015; a baby boy in 1951; twin grandsons Ray and Jay in 1967; and son in law Larry Farley in December 2013.
He is survived by his daughter Linda Farley; his grandchildren, Michael Casler and wife DeDe of Blanchard, OK., Michele Speed and husband Kevin of Amarillo, Cory Farley and wife Stephanie of White Rock, NM., and April Farley of Amarillo; ten great-grandchildren, Sean Bishop, Dillon Casler, Shelby Casler, Michael Speed, Megan Speed, Eli Farley, Emma Farley, Elena Farley, Matthew Farley and Jacob Snavely.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to Honor and Remember.org
