She lived in Hedley, Texas most of her early life and graduated from Hedley High School in 1940. She retired from the Amarillo Day Nurseries after more than 30 years of service in 1984. She then worked as an assistant at Jan Werner Adult Day Care Center until her second retirement in 1995.
She was a long-time active and faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and served in many areas of leadership in her Sunday School Class. The last ten years of her life she enjoyed the many new friends and relationships that she had at Independence Village.
She married Leon W. Hatley on June 18, 1947 in Amarillo. He preceded her in death in 1972.
