Zakiah Trace Stokes-Esparza, 1, of Amarillo was born on June 10, 2017 and went to go play with the Angels on January 20, 2019.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 25, 2019 at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.
Zakiah came into our lives when he was 3 months old and we only got to enjoy him for 15 short months. He loved to eat and play. He loved trucks, dinosaurs and any toy that could sing to him. He loved dancing and climbing on and in things, and just started enjoying picture books.
He enjoyed wrestling with his brother and sister and did his best to keep up with them. He loved to wear his daddy’s hats and try to ride his brothers tricycle. He gave open mouth kisses and big hugs. He was extremely ticklish and laughed and smiled a lot. He loved to snuggle but hated naps and bedtime. Zakiah didn’t like shoes or socks and took them off at the first chance he got. He was a wonderful and beautiful boy that brought love and joy to those he met.
He left his footprints and smiles on many hearts and will be sorely missed by everyone.
Zakiah leaves behind his parents, Jessica and Evan; his birth mother, Christine Esparza; brothers and sisters, Isaiah, Carmen, Teagan and Tristan; grandparents, Mille Velazquez, and Ron and Carrie Stokes; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
