A.C. "Bud" Holland

February 26, 1934 — November 11, 2022

Amarillo

A.C. “Bud” Holland, age 88 of Amarillo entered the gates of Heaven on November 11, 2022 surrounded by his family.

Public viewing will be on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.  A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Arden Road Baptist Church.  Pastor Aaron Denson will officiate. A private interment will be held at Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

Bud was born in Clovis, New Mexico on February 26, 1934 to his parents Aubrey C. and Elizabeth Bartlett Holland.  He graduated from Clovis High School.  It was during his high school years that he met Doris Howard and the couple were married on July 3, 1952 in Clovis.  Their two sons, Darrell and Michael completed the family.

For over thirty three years Bud worked as a lineman for G.T.E. Telephone Company, retiring in 1995.  In 1998 the couple moved from Dimmitt to Amarillo.  Even in retirement Bud kept busy.  He was always fixing things, sometimes with the use of creative engineering, but somehow he always got things to work.  In his eyes there was nothing broken that couldn’t be fixed.

Bud could be described as a determined and inventive man that could be a bit of a ring tailed tooter from time to time.  It was that determination and what some would call stubbornness that carried him on throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Dan, Glenn, and Lawrence Holland; and his beloved wife of sixty-eight years, Doris.

Bud is survived by his two sons, Darrell Holland and his wife Annie of Amarillo and Michael Holland and his wife Christy of Diamond, Missouri; two sisters, Joyce Lewey and her husband Eugene and Kathy Holland all of Alabama; by his half-brother Bill Smith and his wife Donna of Clovis, New Mexico; two grandchildren, Cori and Matthew; one great-grandchild, Caddie; and three great-great grandchildren, Avagail, Atticus and Scout.
