Ken was born on October 24, 1955 in Amarillo to John and Marion Gabel. He graduated from Amarillo High in 1974 and attended Texas Tech for two years. Ken worked for United Super Markets for over thirty two years. He loved the Amarillo High Sandies, the Texas Tech Red Raiders, and the Texas Rangers.
He was preceded in death by his father; one sister, Joan Gabel; and two brothers, Keith and Gary Gabel.
Ken is survived by his mother, Marion Gabel of Amarillo; three sons, Chase Allen and wife, Ashley of Lubbock, T.J. Allen and Timothy Allen and wife Kristen, all of Ft. Worth; one sister, Marcia Liekhus of Amarillo; and four brothers, Dennis Gabel and wife,
Cindy, Kevin Gabel and wife Barbara, Mike Gabel and wife Serena, and Mark Gabel and wife, Bonnie, all of Amarillo.
The family suggest memorials be made to the American Heart Association, 2514 82nd st, Suite B, Lubbock, Texas 79423 or the American Diabetes Association, 8008 Slide Road, No. 12A, Lubbock, Texas 79424.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 PM today at the funeral home.
