Mark was born in Amarillo Texas to Marvin and Jean (Hodges) Pruitt on April 14, 1961. Growing up he enjoyed spending his summers at Lake Tanglewood with his family and friends. At this age, Mark earned the rank of Life Scout. Mark graduated from Amarillo High in 1979 and from TSTI in 1981 and then began working as a maintenance man. He went on to complete his CDL and worked with various companies delivering paper, appliances, and TV’s. Later in life he would take the Texas Insurance Exam to sell life and medical insurance.
Mark married the love of his life, Nicole Keller Pruitt on July 2, 2005, joining together their families and raising their five children. He enjoyed smoking meats, BBQing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He and Nicole enjoyed traveling to new places and experiencing life together.
Mark was an active member of Bell Avenue Church of Christ where he enjoyed fellowship, especially Thursday game day.
Mark battled chronic kidney disease his entire adult life receiving his first kidney transplant in 1993 at the age of 32. Before passing, he was regularly on dialysis waiting for the opportunity for a second kidney transplant. Mark was a fighter, never a complainer, and could always find the good in any situation choosing to make people laugh with his signature grin each day.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Jean Pruitt, his brother-in-law George Schrandt, and grandson Jesse Topliff.
He is survived by his wife Nicole of 17 years, a son Steven Pruitt and wife Jentry of Amarillo, daughters Lindsey Pruitt Salazar and Dan of Colorado Springs and Brittany Keller Topliff and Christopher of Clarendon, and sons Chance and Dylan Fox of Claude. He is also survived by his sister Vicki Pruitt Schrandt and by his grandchildren Maelie, Mace and Jett Pruitt; Jameson Donahue; and Caroline, Anna Kay and Keller Topliff.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to The American Kidney Foundation.
